Mercenaries of Astonia v2, rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 on the original server.

The world, the monsters, the skills and the rules come straight from the v2 server by Daniel Brockhaus. What's new is everything you see: a full 3D client with real lighting, day and night, weather, and an interface you can lay out the old way or the new way.

The alpha is open to everyone. No invite or password needed.

Play

1. Get the launcher from https://v2evo.com/play.html
2. Save it into a new folder such as C:\Games\Astonia Evolution and run it. The first time, it downloads the game next to itself; after that it only fetches what changed.
3. Make a Templar, Mercenary or Harakim and step out into Aston.

In the game today

• Aston by day and night, with lamps that come on as the sun goes down
• Forests, mist and rain beyond the walls
• All twelve gorges of the Labyrinth
• Aston Hall, the inn's back rooms, Elysium, the towers and the mines
• Every monster in 3D, rigged to fight like the sprites did
• Gear you can see on your character and on the ground

Built the way v2 played

• Original server rules, updated for 64-bit Linux
• Classic 800x600 layout or a modern HUD
• Every key rebindable
• In-game bug reports: press B and the report saves with a screenshot and your location

What you need

• Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
• Recommended: a graphics card with 6 GB of video memory. Smaller cards can try the Low preset.
• About 5 GB of free disk space
